Join us on March 26th to mark eleven years of the war on Yemen
In March 2015, the Saudi-led coalition launched a brutal war on Yemen. Since then, thousands of Yemeni civilians have been killed by Saudi bombs. The UN estimates that 377,000 war related deaths occurred by the end of 2021. Over 154,000 of these deaths were the direct result of the armed conflict. 21.6 million people need humanitarian aid.
This has all been done with the complicity of the UK through weapons sales and diplomatic support. CAAT estimates the real value of arms to Saudi Arabia, to date, is around £33.9 billion. Recently, air strikes on Yemen have been carried out by the US and Israel, with the former strikes reportedly supported by the UK’s Royal Air Force. The war in Yemen has caused one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
Join us at 6.30pm on Thursday March 26th outside Downing Street to stand in solidarity with the people of Yemen and commemorate all the lives unnecessarily lost in this brutal war. Please share the Facebook event or the event on our website, where you can also see announcements about speakers.
End Zero Accountability of Protest Policing in London
Netpol have launched a campaign on the Metropolitan Police’s oppressive policing of protests in London. They have published an analysis of Home Office data on protest restrictions that shows that 100% of restrictions on processions or marches, anywhere in England and Wales, were imposed in London and that 25 of the 30 processions that had restrictions imposed on them using Section 12 powers were categorised as ‘international’ – overwhelmingly Palestine marches, in all likelihood, but the Home Office decided not to publish a full list so they cannot be sure – either way it indicates the continued targeting of the Palestine solidarity movement.
They are asking people worried about this oppressive policing of protest to write to London Assembly Members and share their concerns about the attacks on protests in the capital. You can do that here.
