DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us for a selection of talks and workshops exploring how 
 our education systems currently partner with the arms trade and support wo
 rld wide injustice.\n\nCalling all students!\n\nThis is a safe space for a
 ll to join\, learn\, connect and strengthen our university movements and b
 eyond!\n\nAll welcome!\n\nOur universities play a crucial role in supporti
 ng the arms trade through corporate-military research partnerships\, inves
 tments\, sponsorships\, grant funding\, and recruitment – so demilitaris
 ing our universities is a crucial part of resisting the arms trade and wid
 er patterns of militarism within our society.\n\nEvery 2 years\, some of t
 he largest arms companies in the world come together at DSEI to exhibit an
 d sell their weapons. These companies operate with impunity\, continuing t
 o sell their weapons to human rights abusing states despite their use in f
 acilitating war crimes and other violations of international law. As confl
 icts across the world from Yemen\, Palestine\, to Kashmir continue\; as th
 e environment becomes increasingly polluted and the climate increasingly u
 nstable: these companies make a profit at every phase. From the brutal rep
 ression of locals resisting the exploitation of land and resources in the 
 extraction process\; to their use in war\; by the police against civilians
  protesting for their rights and freedoms\; and against refugees at the bo
 rders. The arms trade is embedded in\, and plays a vital role in maintaini
 ng an unjust\, unsustainable\, exploitative global system of trade and con
 flict.\n\nAs part of the week of resistance against DSEI\, this day is ded
 icated to exploring resistance in education. Come and join CAAT\, dED_uc
 ation\, Disarm Oxford\, Demilitarise UCL and other groups for workshops
  and discussions on campaigning against the arms trade in our universities
