Stop Arming Saudi: Vigil for Yemen

This March marks 5 years of Saudi led bombing in Yemen, in a conflict which has led to the deaths of over 100,000 people. The Saudi led attacks have regularly targeted civilians, including multiple airstrikes on hospitals.

1) Please write to the Attorney General to ask him to move forward with the prosecution of Airbus on corruption charges regarding a £2 billion deal to supply communications equipment to the Saudi Arabian National Guard – https://www.caat.org.uk/get-involved/act-now/lobby/gpt.

2) Post on your social media pages about the anniversary of the war and to call on the government to #StopArmingSaudi. Please find some suggested posts below.

In August 2018, over 40 children were killed in a Saudi-led coalition airstrike on a school bus. This is just one example of the devastation caused during the war on Yemen. The UK government must #StopArmingSaudi

Throughout the war Saudi Arabia has been heavily supported by the UK, with over £6.3bn of weapons sold to the Saudi-led coalition since the war began. The UK not only supplies planes and bombs, but also the support personnel required to keep the planes flying. Despite arms sales to Saudi Arabia being ruled unlawful in June 2019, the government has ignored this law on 3 occasions, and any existing deals of planes and support services continue to go ahead.
