SUMMARY:Vigil for Yemen
DESCRIPTION:March 26th marks ten years since the Saudi-led coalition starte
 d their brutal assault on Yemen. In that time\, thousands of Yemeni civili
 ans have been killed by Saudi bombs. The UN estimates that 377\,000 war re
 lated deaths occurred by the end of 2021.  Over 154\,000 of these deaths w
 ere the direct result of the armed conflict. In total the UK has supplied 
 at least £31 billion worth of arms to the Saudi-led coalition attacking Y
 emen. Recently\, the UK and US have bombed targets in Yemen in response to
  the Houthis attacking international shipping in the Red Sea\, heaping mor
 e violence on the country and threatening the fragile peace. The war in Ye
 men has caused one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.\n\nWe wi
 ll hear from Ruth Rohde at Shadow World Investigations as well as playing 
 a message from the Yemeni freelance journalist Ahmad Algohbary.\n\nJoin us
  at 6pm on Wednesday March 26th outside Downing Street to stand in solidar
 ity with the people of Yemen and commemorate all the lives unnecessarily l
 ost in this brutal war.
